Family Financial Planning Certificate

A certificate in Family Financial Planning prepares students for careers as financial planners, investment advisors and wealth managers. Financial planners offer families and individuals the advice they need to make their money work for them. Students take online courses in financial planning, insurance planning, income tax planning, investment planning, estate planning and retirement planning, as well as a capstone course to provide real-world applications, all with a focus on families and individuals.

Courses in the curriculum meet the Certified Financial Planner® Board of Standards education requirements, and provide the coursework necessary for students to take the Certified Financial Planner® Comprehensive Exam after graduation with a bachelor’s degree. For students enrolled at N.C. A&T, the coursework also fulfills requirements for an academic minor. All courses offered online and designed to be completed in five terms. Continuing work toward CFP® certification after the coursework is completed is strongly encouraged.

The Family Financial Planning Certificate program is offered to other 1890 Land Grant Colleges and Universities through the 1890s FCS Distance Instructional Alliance, a web-based consortium of Family and Consumer Science units that represents the first online collaboration of its kind for Historically Black Colleges Universities (HBCUs).
