North Carolina A&T State University offers a variety of summer programs to inspire the next generations of Aggies. The camps allow young people to explore, learn new skills, prepare for the future – and have fun! Check back frequently as we finalize the camps.

Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics
About: This five-day residential camp for pre-college high-school students with a 2.8 GPA or higher is focused on technology and data analytics. Campers will gain exposure to and hands-on practical experience in using technology in business and the applications of business analytics in generating valuable insights that drive business decisions.

Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics
About: Entrepreneurs and Innovators – NEXGEN Residential Summer Camp at N.C. A&T is designed to be a fun, interactive, and engaging experience for middle and high school students.  Participants will (1) learn how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, (2) learn how to discover problems and identify needs in the market, and (3) develop a pitch based on the vetted business idea.

The week-long residential camp will include a few field trips, including (1) visiting Forge Greensboro, a premier maker space for inventors and entrepreneurs; (2) UNC Charlotte’s PORTAL tour and panel discussions with entrepreneurs and other support service professionals; (3) Top Golf Charlotte.

Also, participants will be exposed to personal financial literacy concepts and interactive STEM activities (i.e., Python programming and Game Development).Of course, other fun activities will be like Movie Night, Karaoke Night, Mix & Mingle events!

College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
About: IFAL is a unique week-long leadership development program for rising high school seniors interested in careers in agriculture. Emphasis is placed on career opportunities, emerging technology, citizenship, and leadership development.

About: The N.C. A&T Scientific Research Preparatory Program (SRPP) aims to engage incoming freshman and rising sophomore undergraduate students with little or no prior research experience and intend to pursue a career in STEM-M (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine). Specifically, our SRPP will prepare an annual cohort of freshmen/sophomore undergraduate students to successfully compete for admission to the NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP) and other highly competitive Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU).

College of Science and Technology
About: The Samuel Research Team is partnering with the Washington Montessori Elementary School to design and implement a 4-week day camp with exciting and fun learning activities. Our objectives are to: 

  • Decrease the loss of academic skills during the summer vacation period
  • Increase academic skills in reading and mathematics
  • Introduce students to basic concepts of machines and mechanical systems
  • Introduce students to basic coding concepts (in preparation for Washington Montessori's transition to a computer science-focused magnet school).

About: The Professional Accounting Career Exploration (PACE) Program will provide a deeper understanding of careers in accounting and business. Participants will attend workshops and seminars led by industry professionals and participate in team-building activities. They will perform hands-on activities related to accounting and business. Participants will also visit an accounting firm and experience a day in the life of industry professionals.

College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
About: This rewarding, hands-on, two-week residential program in the food, agricultural, and environmental sciences is for rising juniors and seniors in high school. Participants will stay on the N.C. campus. A&T works under the direction of top-notch research scientists and conducts independent research projects. Participants will receive a stipend upon completion and enrollment in one of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences majors.

College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences - Cooperative Extension
About: Youth Innovators Empowering Agriculture-Research and Extension Apprenticeship Program (YEA-REAP) is a one-week residential agricultural research and Extension experiential learning program. The program exposes rising high school sophomores and juniors to research and Extension initiatives in the food and agricultural sciences and careers in agricultural sciences and

Cooperative Extension. This program is conducted in partnership with faculty and Extension specialists in colleges/schools of agricultural sciences at six 1890 land-grant universities. Partnering universities include North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C. A&T), Alcorn State University (ASU), Fort Valley State University (FVSU), Kentucky State University (KSU), Lincoln University (LU), and Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical University (PVAMU).

 The program should provide students with a stimulating and valuable introduction to careers in the food, agricultural, environmental family, and consumer sciences and expose them to research and Extension initiatives. Student learning can be enhanced by engaging them in laboratory demonstrations and structured activities, including field trips and mini-workshops.

The Summer High School Transportation Institute (STI) is an enriching educational opportunity for rising high school juniors and seniors. Since its first STI program in 1993, N.C. A&T's Transportation Institute has introduced hundreds of high school students to careers and academic pursuits in transportation. Many individuals have had successful careers with Fortune 500 companies and government entities. As the oldest National Summer Transportation Institute program in the nation, N.C. A&T is proud to have earned a reputation for offering an exceptional educational experience.

Historically, the demand for people with managerial, technical, and STEM skills far exceeds the supply in the transportation field. That demand remains strong today. As a result, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the N.C. A&T Transportation Institute has prioritized recruiting bright young minds to the field to help build a strong foundation for the future transportation industry workforce.
 
During the summer, STI experience is usually conducted in person on the N.C. A&T campus exposes students to supply chain management, various modes of transportation, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) topics and disciplines. They also conduct personal development activities through classroom instruction, group projects, and on-site field trips.
 
A typical summer schedule would include classroom lectures by private business and education professionals, local and out-of-town field trips, group projects, SAT preparation, personal development activities, and Toastmasters' participation. 
 
The 2024 Summer Transportation Institute will occur from July 7 to July 24, 2024. The program will be residential, so students will live on campus for two and a half weeks and get a taste of the Aggie experience, including dorm life, campus food, recreational facilities, and more. The program is completely free, including food, lodging, and travel.

The Upward Bound Summer Component is an integral part of the Upward Bound Program, exclusively available to students enrolled in the Trio Upward Bound Program hosted at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. This transformative initiative offers an immersive educational experience. It includes academic courses, workshops, and enrichment activities designed to enhance participants' skills, boost academic performance, and prepare them for higher education.
The program focuses on underserved students, providing a supportive environment that fosters personal and academic growth. By offering specialized resources, mentorship, and exposure to college life, the Upward Bound Summer Component aims to bridge educational gaps and empower students to succeed, ensuring a smoother transition to higher education.

All program directors, staff, and volunteers who work with minors must adhere to the Protection of Minors policy and attend required online Protection of Minors training.
